'MADE IN NIGERIA' is a fusion of theatre, comedy, dance, and poetry, expressed through riveting performances.This Poetry-For-Theatre production is put together by respected poet, Dike Chukwumerije. In his words, "It is History, but it will not bore you.
It is Drama, but will you notice? It is Music, the sort that will have you singing. It is Fashion - like a thread running through the tapestry.
It is Art. It is Dancing. It is the imaginative use of Space and Time.
It is 102 years of Shared Stories, and at the end you will not believe you just heard it told in 20 poems, in 120 minutes, on one stage, in one night.
"The world premiere of 'MADE IN NIGERIA' was on the 30th of September to the 2nd of October 2016 at Merit House Maitama Abuja. Due to high demand for repeat performances, NSWpoetry has returned to the Abuja stage with an encore showing of 'MADE IN NIGERIA'.
This special Valentine edition of the show will happen at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton by 7pm on Saturday the 11th of February 2017.
The Production is set thereafter to tour the country, with planned showings in cities and higher educational institutions across the country. 'MADE IN NIGERIA' is a Poetry-For-Theatre Production that tells the story of our journey to Nationhood, all the way from Amalgamation to Independence and then beyond.
But the tale is cleverly told through very human stories - two lovers in the '60s caught up in the crisis, a couple in the '70s facing their parents opposition to inter-tribal marriages, a soldier's wife and the agonies of staying home waiting for news of the loved one, the unbreakable love of a mother for her child in the difficult economic times of the '80s, two teenagers in the '90s exploring their emotions.
In weaving these multiple love stories into one cohesive narrative, 'MADE IN NIGERIA' takes us back to the important subject of Our History and going forward helps us understand Our present in a bid to more effectively handle Our future.
